Tips to Prepare for Prom
This is a huge night, so proper planning is necessary! This is the perfect time to whip your beauty routine into shape, so you look glowing and fabulous on your night!

One Month Before Prom
Make sure you schedule a hair appointment if you are planning on getting your hair professionally done. It helps to do a practice run beforehand, so you get the perfect hairstyle that you want with no disappointments on the day of prom. If you can, get two mini-facials two weeks apart to help deep cleanse and exfoliate—revealing gorgeous skin! If you are going to do your own makeup, practice various looks and take photos so you remember what you did and write down the colors you used. Try on your outfit so you can see the entire look!
Two Weeks Before Prom
Start playing with self-tanners or spray tans so you can have a gorgeous glow prom night without going to a tanning salon. Look for products that have a dark guide color so you can see exactly where you applied the product and where you may have missed. This greatly reduces streaking and application mishaps. Also, if you happen to have acne or breakouts, use a face self-tanner that is specifically designed for your skin type. Beautisol provides these types of face self-tanners, which help to reduce oil and breakouts. Watch online “How-To” videos if you need a little help on applying self-tanner. You can watch some on www.selftanningqueen.com under the “Tips and Tricks” section.
One Week Before Prom
If you are going to get your eyebrows and legs waxed, do so a couple of days before prom so any redness is gone and you can apply self-tanner without any issues. Do a pore-refining mask a day or two before the event so your skin is in tip-top shape.
Night Before Prom
Apply your self-tanner to freshly exfoliated skin. Since you have been practicing, you should feel confident in applying to your entire body. Let the product dry, then get into bed and let your tan develop.
Day of Prom
Shower off the guide color from your self-tanner or spray tan and do a little cardio or other exercise in the morning. It will make you feel good and exercise is a great way to relieve stress on any big day. Also, the added circulation makes your cheeks flush, giving you a fresh, natural look!
If you want your tan to be a bit darker, then apply more product and let it develop over the next few hours. If you are going to get your hair done, make sure you wear a button-down shirt or running suit that can zip down. You don’t want to pull anything over your head and ruin your hairstyle or makeup.
Drink lots of water and apply a light moisturizer to your skin. Use a tissue to absorb any oiliness before you start applying your makeup.
Relax and enjoy your day! Take lots and lots of photos!
