FROM THE Camp

Project Briarwood is an academic summer enrichment and remediation program for students entering first through sixth grade for the 2023-2024 school year,

with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD and other language-based delays.

Project Briarwood combines explicit instruction related to language and math with a fun theme where the students can share what they have created on Fridays.

Morning Sessions: Students will attend academic core classes in the morning with teachers, similar to a regular half day at The Briarwood School.

All of these classes will use project-based learning to follow an exciting “theme of the week.”

Students will create a product or presentation to share with fellow students and parents at the end of the week.

Afternoon Sessions: Students will experience fun activities related to the arts, physical movement, and technology.

There are ten choices for these activities, based on enrollment.

For Preschool and Kindergarten: Project Briarwood Jr. focuses on our youngest learners who are enrolled or will soon be enrolled in PreK or Kindergarten programs.

The general themes from the main program are followed and the basic schedule is:

8:00 - 8:15 - Fine motor skills

8:15 - 8:45 - Morning Meeting

8:45 - 9:15 - Reading Comprehension

9:15 - 9:30 - Snack

9:30 - 9:45 - Recess

9:45 - 10:30 - Phonics

10:30 - 11:00 - Math

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SUMMER PROGRAMS?

Project Briarwood is taught by a specialized staff of educators, using evidence-based academic strategies with reported outcomes, that can transfer to multiple settings.

The program is designed to provide strategies to develop and build upon skills in the core areas of academics, as well as help with organization and study habits.

Each week has a different theme, using project-based learning.

At the end of each week, the students create a product, presentation, or performance related to the theme.
