Beautiful Christmas Traditions to Enjoy with Your Family. Christmas holidays are right around the corner and we can’t wait for them! This year we all need some extra holiday cheer and what a better way than enjoying some of your favorite holiday traditions.
However, this year’s Christmas traditions may look slightly different than what we’re used to. But different doesn’t have to be bad, we can still enjoy holidays and even incorporate some new beautiful Christmas traditions.
The good thing about most of these traditions is that they can be done online as well – so none of your relatives or friends who can’t come will feel left out!
Check out all the beautiful holiday traditions that you can enjoy with your family – even online!
1. Organize home decorating party
Seems like this year there won’t be huge Christmas parties, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t decorate our homes and have fun while doing it.
You can organize a small home decorating party and invite only close friends or family. Since social distancing is still in effect, make sure you’re all following the rules and that you’re all safe.
A decorating party may include DIYing ornaments, setting up the Christmas tree, and simply preparing the house for the upcoming holidays. And what do you know, this year’s decorating party may turn into a tradition.
2. Send Christmas cards and letters
Sending letters and cards may feel nostalgic but in a good way. It’s one of the most beautiful Christmas traditions. You can either buy cards or you can DIY your own Christmas cards. Write down all the nice Christmas wishes and send them to all your friends and family.
This year, this tradition may be a complete hit as you probably won’t get to see everyone due to the pandemic. So make your loved ones happy by sending them a nice Christmas card or letter.
3. Christmas countdown tradition
Counting down days until Christmas might be one of the best Christmas traditions ever. You can either buy or create your own advent calendar. This tradition is old but it can be made new by finding new ways to count down the days until Christmas.
There are so many Christmas countdown ideas that there is no way that you can’t find the right one for you and your family. And who knows you may even start a new Christmas tradition.
4. Exchange or send gifts
It’s not Christmas until you open all the gifts that are under the Christmas tree. This year you may not have the chance to personally exchange the gifts with all your loved ones, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t get them.
Since it looks like Santa too will be sending presents via mail, you too can send gifts to all your loved ones.
5. Christmas movie marathon
Christmas movie watching is a must every Christmas season. This year organize a cozy Christmas movie watching party. You can pretty much watch any movies you want, they don’t have to be strictly Christmas movies – the whole point is to gather the whole family and enjoy a Christmas day with them.
Set the mood, get the snacks and drinks ready, and ask everyone which movies they want to watch. This kind of Christmas tradition is here to stay!
6. Ugly Christmas sweater competition
For some families, ugly Christmas sweaters are a holiday staple. There is nothing like an ugly Christmas sweater to get us in the festive mood.
This tradition is an oldie but a goodie – you can even organize a competition – who has the ugliest Christmas sweater this year?
7. Christmas baking competition
Christmas cookies and cakes are the best! Make a Christmas baking competition where everyone will be making their own favourite Christmas cookies. Or maybe you can try some new Christmas cookie recipes?
Similarly, you can organize a Gingerbread house making or decorating competition! These kinds of Christmas traditions are meant to make holidays merry and cheery! Plus, you can do them online as well!
8. Christmas karaoke
Since Caroling will be tough this year, you can start a new tradition of Christmas karaoke. There are so many beautiful Christmas songs that you can sing with your family and friends.
What’s even better is that you can organize this type of even online as well – so all your friends and family that are not able to come can participate as well!
Christmas traditions are what make holidays special! Each family has a special set of traditions that they repeat year after year. This year we may have to make slight changes to these traditions, but still, there is no reason not to do them or maybe even incorporate new ones.
