Tell us about your family, pets included. 

My husband and I are high school sweethearts, together 29 years and he is my everything. Blessed to adopt two children from Nigeria, Kaleb and Grace. We have had them since they were a month old and they will be five in December. My mother-in-law lives with us and that has been great.

A day in the life of a mom is never the same but what is a “close to typical” day like for you?

We wake up, get dressed for the day, have breakfast and drop the children at their fabulous Mother’s Day our program at 9 a.m. I spend the day doing realtor duties and/or running errands for the family. Those things are easier to do without two in tow. That includes getting my nails done or any other appointments. I pick up the children at 2 p.m. and spend the afternoon at the park, playing at home or at dance/soccer depending on the day of the week. Dinner is around 5 p.m. followed by baths and a show/movie before bed. Lights out by 7:30p.m!

Share some of your goals – personal or professional. 

My goal is to be the healthiest I can be for myself and our family, continue my career in real estate and eventually have my husband retire early from his job of 22 years at Baylor College of Medicine so we can flip houses together. We are on our way to financial freedom and zero debt. Less is more and we want to spend our time and money on family travel and experiences. 

How long have you lived in Houston? 

All my life. Born and raised here!

What are some of your favorite things to do with your family in Houston?

We love local parks, hanging with our family and introducing our children to all Houston has to offer via museums, NASA and all visiting activities in the city. Kemah and Galveston have been on the list as well. Our trip to Nigeria to adopt our children lasted longer than expected and we are only now returning to Houston with Kaleb and Grace after almost 3 years. We are excited to show them everything Houston has to offer!

What’s special about Houston when it comes to raising children? 

For me it’s the culture, diversity and being home for both my husband and I. We are blessed that all of our siblings and renaming parents live here too so time together is key!

Besides your family, what are you passionate about? 

I am so passionate about equality for everyone regardless of their gender, color of their skin or sexual preferences. I’m not sure much gets under my skin more than discrimination of any sort.

How do you take time for yourself?

I love to watch TV (Netflix and chill is where it’s at), surf social media, have a relaxing dinner with my hubby or a day at the spa. Sometimes a shower without interruption is amazing but just getting my nails done, lunch with a friend or cuddling with my husband is all I need to reset.

What is your favorite part of motherhood? 

Knowing that I am having a positive impact in their lives and nurturing them is awesome. Hearing my children say thank you for all of their experiences (even if they get a new pair of socks) and seeing their joy is the best! 

What is your Supermom superpower? 

HA! My husband would say I don’t miss a beat and keep up with all of their things. So, being organized is my superpower. 

What’s your motherhood kryptonite? 

Fits!! We don’t throw fits and lying. Whew. Big no around here.

What’s your least favorite household chore?

Cooking and cleaning toilets! I will do both but they’re definitely my least favorite! I actually like doing laundry. I’m weird, I know. 

How has motherhood surprised you? 

I don’t think anything surprises me really. I am just honored that God saw me fit to be Mom through adoption. Best gift ever.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given? 

Let it go. This too shall pass. You can’t change it so let it be and move forward.

What’s your guilty pleasures? 

Pedicures, TexMex and Louis Vuitton bags. Eeek!

What is the messiest room in your house? 

What??!!! We don’t have a messy room in our house. Did I mention that I am a little OCD? I get it from Mom. We clean up as we go and everything is put in its place every night before we go to bed. And we all make our beds every morning, even my four-year old children.
