Stephanie Quayle Lending Her Voice to Houston’s Small Businesses

By Eshaan Mani, HFM Kid Ambassador

Stephanie Quayle is a country singer-songwriter who is not only blazing trails for women in the industry but is also using her talents to help during COVID-19 times.

Growing up in a small town in Montana, a state which she refers to as ‘the little brother of Texas’, Quayle comes from a humble background. She accredits her love of country music to her mother, who used to sing to her often, and to the little silver radio in her horse barn which used to blast country music 24/7. After hearing several earworm songs by Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, and Willie Nelson among many other artists, Stephanie picked up the pen and began writing poetry.

“Writing poetry gave me a sense of rhyme and rhythm that has stayed with me until now and taught me how to make an image as vivid or black-and-white as needed. It really helped me in my musical career. For all budding artists, try to do something that brings out your inner rhythm.”

This young artist’s single ‘Selfish’ was her first to hit the Billboard Country Airplay chart, a feat which takes a tremendous amount of strategy, effort, and teamwork. Stephanie couldn’t be more grateful to the team at Rebel Engine Entertainment for helping her get such a great start. A start, she says, that would have been hard if not near-impossible to get.

Throughout her expansive career, Quayle has been a Grand Ole Opry darling, performing in the circle of fame. She also sang for five former US Presidents (Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama in chronological order).

“It was such a mind-blowing experience. My husband and I had the chance to take photos with them before the show, and they were so happy and eager to talk with us! And during the show, they sat in the front row! I even called out “Hey guys!” to them, which was the most hilarious and the most mortifying thing of my career (laughs)!”

Now, during the coronavirus pandemic, Stephanie Quayle has started a Facebook Live series called Hay Y’all! Aimed at kids, the show revolves around heart, humor, and country music. Viewers will also get to meet the singer’s several pets, like miniature donkeys and miniature Hereford cows. Quayle began the series thirty-four episodes ago with the aim of bringing more goodness, positivity, and smiles to our communities. Tune into Quayle’s show every day from Monday to Friday at 11am.

She also supports local businesses in Houston. On her May 13 episode of Hay Y’all!, Quayle highlights Bosscat Kitchen and Libations, a restaurant serving classically American food which is doing some amazing things. Bosscat Kitchen teamed up with Construction Concept and B.I.G Love (a nonprofit providing personalized care to kids fighting cancer and their families). The Kitchen is providing meals to these children with compromised immune systems during the coronavirus. One meal is donated to B.I.G Love for every meal purchased. Order takeout for a good cause!

Quayle finds it incredibly important to support local businesses, because they face more issues than larger conglomerates in navigating this new COVID-19 world that we are in. “It’s key that we help these small businesses in reopening, flourishing, and growing.”

Stephanie has also felt the repercussions of the pandemic, canceling over forty flights in a single day. “Conceptualizing our ‘escape routes’ is one thing, but actually going through with those plans for mayday is something totally different!”

But through this all, there are two things that Quayle wants all of us to know. “No one saw this coming. Three months ago, no one knew that eating out would be a luxury and traveling a novelty. The best thing we can all do is be more aware of sanitary conditions and health, but not irrationally afraid to where our paranoia overshadows all the good still happening in the world. Also, the best thing to do during the pandemic is LAUGH!”
