The interactive, live-action experience is perfect for fans of Squid Games and groups ages 6 and up looking for some friendly competition!
The games are set up for groups of 3-5 people, making it perfect for a night of hanging with friends, especially for older teens and adults.

“It’s the guest service that keeps people coming back,” says Ian Rockett, the general manager of the Katy location, who is working temporarily at the new Woodlands location to oversee the transition. He has been working for the company for close to a year.
“We are at an age where people have started to become kind of more disconnected from one another,” he said, “especially after the pandemic.”
He hopes that Activate can be a place that brings people back together and makes guests feel at home while they are there.
Rockett suggests booking ahead online to ensure a spot for gameplay, though they do take walk-ins. They also recommend activewear and close-toed shoes, since many of the games require physical movement.
“We’ll give you a wristband, and you’ll walk to our iPad station where you’ll sign in and create a unique user profile with your gamer tag…that’ll be what you use to go and play all the different games,” he explained.
The wristband keeps track of your score, which goes onto a daily and monthly leaderboard to track points.
The games area, or ‘Hub’, is where the actual play happens. If you are a first-time player, you will work with a facilitator, who will give an ‘intro’ and explain how to sign into and play the games, how to track scores, and when the group’s allotted 75 minutes begins.
“Here in the Woodlands, we have 14 different [game] rooms,” he said. “9 are core games, and the other five are duplicates of the popular games. You have access to all of them and can play them in any order, as many times as you would like.”
There are ten levels of each game, each of which unlocks once the level before is completed, and each room has multiple types of ways to play that game.
“That helps guests want to come back and play with us again,” Rockett said.
Activate is truly a personalized, live-action gaming experience that puts the guests in the center of their own video game, and the wristbands streamline the process of tracking scores, which allows guests to be fully immersed in their time playing. The neon and black lights truly sell the gamer energy, making it a perfect outing or birthday party destination for all video game enthusiasts.
One of their most popular games, Mega Grid, has gone viral on social media such as TikTok, as players work to avoid the red squares zooming around on the floor to press all the blue buttons on the wall to win.
I was able to play that game, as well as a few others, and had the exhilarating experience of running across the room, jumping from blue square to blue square while pressing the blue buttons along the wall to win the game.
