Nicknamed the Lone Star State, Texas has been a popular destination with domestic and
foreign tourists for decades. As the second-largest state in the US with over 200 towns and
cities spanning an area of over 260 thousand square miles, planning a trip isn’t as simple as
some might think.
Like any traveler, research is the first thing you’d do and regardless of how many lists you’ll find,
Austin will be on it, which isn’t surprising. As the capital of Texas, it’s usually the first destination
you think of as a tourist. With that said, what other destinations and activities should you
consider when visiting this state?
Be a Cowboy for the Day
Many things come to mind when you think of Texas, and Western culture is one of them.
Depending on how you plan your trip, you have plenty of available options, ranging from a few-
hour activities to multi-day adventures.
If there’s something that this state can offer, it’s cowboy-themed adventures. You can saddle up
and go on a riding trip and experience the thrill of a cattle drive. If you have a few days to spend,
visiting some of the western-themed villages or ranches is a must. Seeing how things were
done and talking to the locals will give you an idea of how people lived in the olden days.
People who aren’t into those kinds of activities can always revert to the traditional shopping
options this state can offer.
Hit the Beaches
Visiting a state doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll need to have some kind of activity. Maybe you
and your family are more into leisure, sun, and sand, something this southern part of the US can
offer.
There is a saying that goes “Everything is bigger in Texas” and you can say the same about the
Texas beaches. With a shoreline of around 367 miles on the Gulf of Mexico, this state offers
some of the largest beaches in the country. There are 29 of them to choose from, all of which
offer clear water and sandy beaches. Perfect for chilling and sipping on a cocktail.
If you’re traveling with the younger version of yourself, there are plenty of water-related parks
and activities to keep the kids entertained. Just make sure you get proper sun protection for
them.
Discover Dallas
Austin may be the capital, but that doesn’t mean Dallas is left forgotten by tourists. Being among
the larger cities in Texas, this southern gem has a bit of everything for everyone and every
occasion.
Whether you’re into art, cuisine, sports, or concerts, you’ll find everything in this city. This makes
it an excellent travel destination for any individual, family, or larger group, where people can
experience and visit anything they want.
When traveling to this destination, it’s a good idea to consider a Dallas bus rental service. It
allows you to focus more on your activities and adventures, rather than getting around and
figuring things out with traffic or parking.
Connecting With the Ancestors in Log Cabin Village
We often comment about how people lived in the olden days and if you’re the type of person
who wants to find out, Fort Worth offers something that can help. The Log Cabin Village is a
part of this city where you and your family can retreat to see how people lived in the 19 th
century.
The motto of this museum is “Connecting with The Ancestors” and the management and staff
have done everything possible to bring that experience to you. Since it first opened to the public
as a museum in 1966, its goal has been to deliver the most authentic experience of how people
really lived in the 1800s.
To get fully immersed in the lives of people from the 19 th century, you’ll find buildings in houses
resembling the original ones. You’ll also find staff members dressed in clothes from that era, as
well as multiple exhibits such as a blacksmith, gristmill, herb garden, and a few more.
Explore the Houston Space Center
Last year, over 51 million people traveled to Houston and you can be sure that a good amount
of those are space fans. If you feel like you fall in this category, then the Houston Space Center
is an excellent destination for you.
The best part about the center is that it’s not just another astronomy museum you’ll visit and be
on your way. It covers an area of 250 thousand square feet and it has a plethora of galleries,
displays, and additional activities. As a result, it can be a fun and exciting experience for kids
and adults who want to see spaceships up close.
You can see replicas or some original parts of space shuttles, or visit some of the starship
galleries. A few years ago, the space center saw a new addition, which is its Mission Mars
exhibit.
