
After 4 hours of competing with 53 contestants from 42 Texas counties, Houstonians Shobha Dasari, an eighth grader at McCullough Jr. High and Siddharth Krishnakumar, a seventh grader at Pearland Jr. High West were declared champions of the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee this past Saturday.
The two will fly to Washington DC to compete with over 250 contestants in the National Spelling Bee on May 24-29. The even will be aired on ESPN.
