Saturday is National Random Acts of Kindness Day and we have a CHALLENGE to SHARE & GIVE BACK!

Jake Speck, Executive Director of A.D. Players, one of Houston’s oldest and largest resident theater companies announced a new program this month to give back to the Houston-area community. It’s called Gift of Theatre, a program to set aside free tickets to people in need for performances throughout the year.
“I firmly believe that theatre is for all people, but unfortunately professional theatre is very expensive to produce and therefore demands a certain ticket price,” said Speck. “The Gift of Theatre program is designed to remove financial and economic barriers to seeing professional theatre.”
Making a Difference with Gift of Theatre:
- Families enjoying great theatre together who would not normally have access to theatre.
- Partnerships with Houston-area nonprofits that serve the communities in which they reside.
- The potential to help provide a child with a life-changing experience.
“When I was a child, the entire trajectory of my life was changed by a trip to the theatre,” said Speck. “Theatre educates, entertains and inspires. It allows you to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and creates empathy. Quite simply, it can be life changing.”
TODAY’S CHALLENGE: Speck invites ALL theatre companies in Houston to start a Gift of Theatre program if they don’t already have one! And if they DO, tell us about it!
Remember, any random act of kindness can help impact the community by changing a fellow Houstonian’s life and perspective. Spread the word and be kind! And let us know if you know of area businesses doing good.
