HFM: What do you enjoy most about your day with three kids?
CK: Favorite part of the day is our nightly dance parties, we put on music and make hilarious videos. They will all laugh so hard that they get the hiccups and it is the sweetest sound. Laughter and hiccups to me means everyone is healthy and happy!
HFM: You are a working mom, so how do you stay on top of daily tasks such as preparing and packing lunches for the kids?
CK: I do as much as possible on Sunday evenings! I make all of the sandwiches, cut the fruit, bag the chips and fill up the water cups … it all goes on the top shelf inside our fridge. Each morning we just grab it and throw it in their lunch boxes. To me it saves so much time, because we already have everything out!
HFM: How do you balance work and home life?
CK: Very delicately! I work from home and for myself, so at times it’s almost more difficult because I never really “clock out” … I have certain times of each day where I put my phone in another room and completely disconnect from that and tune in to my kids 100%. I find that if I have my phone or computer around, it is too easy to get distracted by an email, an alert etc … So I just silence everything, leave the room and have real conversations with my kids.
HFM: What is your favorite weekend outing with the family?
CK: We don’t do it every weekend, but we love going to Barnes and Noble, each kid gets to pick out a few books or puzzles. We hang out there, read, play and then go eat on the patio at Mi Cocina.
