Tell us a little about yourself

I am a native Houstonian, but I’ve spent most of my life on the Northwest side of town.  I took my first photography class at Cy Fair High School (thank you Mrs. Emery!) Our family moved before my senior year, so I actually graduated from Klein Oak High School.  I moved around the globe a bit, due to my husband’s career in the Oil & Gas industry, and landed back in my home town of Cypress!

What is your Mom story?

Running a photography business while running a household definitely has its challenges, but I love the fact that I can set my own hours and be flexible for my girls!  On occasion, they accompany me on shoots as my assistants. They may not always cooperate, but that’s nothing a few Sour Patch Kids can’t fix!

What kind of photography do you do?

I mainly specialize in Lifestyle Family Photography.  That means that my subjects aren’t overly posed, and I try to capture them interacting naturally.

How would you describe your photography style?

In my heart I am a documentary photographer, but in reality, I can’t keep my mouth shut!  LOL!  You’ll hear me say things like “Do that again!” or “Do that over here in this beautiful light!” I love to capture natural moments, but I definitely direct my subjects!

What was your favorite photo shoot ever?

One of my favorite photo shoots was done last year during bluebonnet season.  I took a total break from my ’norm’ and shot a highly-posed vintage themed picnic in the bluebonnets.  It was fun to let my imagination go wild without the constraints of time and my normal work flow.

If you could choose a destination to photograph, where would that be?

I absolutely love being in nature away from the city lights!  I’d love to shoot anywhere that I can see the stars! Last year, I went to Big Bend National Park and it was amazing!  The colors, the land formations, and the bright stars of the milky way were overwhelmingly beautiful!

Whose work inspires you?

One of my favorite photographers is Summer Murdock.  She is an absolute genius with light!

If you could photograph any one person or subject matter, who/what would it be?

I’d love to have the honor of photographing a birth!
