Parents, it’s almost over!
School bells are ringing early this month for most of us with classes kicking off mid-August. While the thought is music to most parent’s ears, I know the kiddos are reluctantly counting down their last free days of summer begrudgingly. While mine misses his friends terribly, he really is not looking forward to giving up his late night Fortnite games with his buds or getting up early anytime soon. If I’m honest, I will also miss the non-structured days that offer a little reprieve from the hectic school year routines!
That said, it’s time to gear up and start to prep for success in the new year. As many of your kids head off to new campuses this year, the transition will be difficult for some. Others will face the challenges of more homework, new classmates, new teams and teachers. To prepare, we have dedicated this issue to everything back to school related.
Except for the cover, that was our last summer hurrah with the Girl Scouts out at their Conroe campground at Camp Arnold! Located on approximately 1,000 acres, this camp ground is everything you would expect and more from a Girl Scouts camp. As you can see by the girls’ expressions, they are having a blast at camp. While fishing is definitely something that you would expect at Girl Scout camp, do you know they also offer STEM classes? In this month’s article “How to become a Steminist”, you can learn all about the programs they offer that are more than what you would traditionally expect!
However, if you are in need of advice on getting your kids ready for school, we have got you covered. Whether you have a high schooler or one just going into Kinder, there is something for you. We even have advice from our very own HFM Kid Ambassadors on their tips & go-to meals to insure success this year.
Whatever your facing this year, we thank you for continuing to turn to Houston Family for the latest advice, tips, stories, events, products & more for your families. It is your participation and support that keeps us striving to be all that we can be to continue to grow with our wonderful community. You are our village!
Best of luck to you & your family this new school year! We look forward to telling your stories, celebrating in your victories and being a shoulder in the defeats!
All the best,
