46th Annual Dickens on the Strand Returns Dec 6th-8th!

Brush off your bowlers and prepare your petticoats as Galveston Historical Foundation presents the 46th annual Dickens on The Strand. Held the first weekend in December, the annual festival is a holiday tradition with great family programming, live entertainment, special events and more. Dickens on The Strand, based on 19th-century Victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on four stages, new additions like Tiny Tim’s Play Land, Shopkeeper Skills Village, and roaming characters throughout the festival. Costumed vendors peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations, and gift items.

This year’s festival begins Friday, December 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (FREE ADMISSION ON FRIDAY NIGHT!) and continues Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, December 8, from 12 to 6 p.m. Dickens on The Strand tickets purchased before December 2 are $13 for adults and $7 for children ages 7-12 for Saturday or Sunday. Tickets purchased at the gate are $15 for adults and $9 for children ages 7-12 for Saturday or Sunday. Discounted tickets for GHF members are available for $10 for Saturday or Sunday in advance and $12 the day of. Attendees in Victorian costume are admitted for ½ price.

The festival weekend also hosts a multitude of spirited fun with events such as the crowd favorite Dickens Victorian Bed Races; Victorian Costume Contest; and daily parades through Galveston’s Strand National Historic Landmark District. In addition, new and expanded events are planned for all days of the event!
