Happy Summer!
It’s been a whirlwind around the Houston Family Magazine offices this month! We are excited to be on the newsstands at your local H-E-B, Randalls, select Whole Foods, Rice Epicurean, along with many other locations around the Greater Houston area.
We had fun shooting our June cover with a couple of our Kid Ambassadors, Jack and Martha. What an awesome opportunity to get a sneak peek of the Houston Zoo’s newest Wetlands exhibit. It’s such an amazing addition to the Zoo. We were enamored by Sally, the majestic bald eagle! Read all about it in this issue.
This month, we’re celebrating Dads with our favorite product finds and book picks. Don’t miss our Father Knows Best column written by Billy Lewis, a father sharing his family’s journey through childhood cancer. Then, we head north on a road trip to Grapevine, Texas, a thriving art community with so many attractions including the Urban Wine Trail, and 8,000 acres of Lake Grapevine.
HFM met an incredible young woman, Julia Wycoff who founded a company called Zeal Cares, at the age of 13. Read about her story and how she gives back to children with cancer. We introduce you to Lisa Pounds, CEO of Celebrate Brands, a dynamic woman and mom entrepreneur, who is as amazing as her passion about great tasting, nutritious food.
Whether you’re traveling far or staying home this summer, we hope your family finds the time to soak up the sun, get your toes wet, read a good book, and explore the many attractions around our big city!
