Congratulations Showcase Gymnastics in Katy, TX!

The 2017 USA Gymnastics GFA National Championships were held at Mt. St. Joseph’s University in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 28th through July 1st in conjunction with the USA Wheel National Championships.

Teams from all over the Nation, meeting a minimum qualifying score, gathered to compete in levels 1 through 8 in USAG Power Team Gym. Each team is required to compete two events, Group Floor Routine and a Group Jump routine (which includes power tumbling, vaulting and mini-tramp). Teams are judged based on synchronization, execution and difficulty.

Showcase Gymnastics in Katy, Texas took a delegation of 64 athletes ranging in age from 5 to 22 to compete in this prestigious event.

The National Championships and Gymfest began on Wednesday with Opening Ceremonies held at the Purple People Bridge in Newport, Kentucky. During the ceremony, owner Cheryl Cupples was honored with the Dave Moskovitz award for excellence in promoting and growing the sport of group gymnastics.

Thursday began three full days of competitions in all levels of Power Team Gym. Showcase Gymnastics is very proud to have won National titles at both Level 3 boys and level 7 (making it two years in a row at this high level). The championships concluded with the National Gymfest challenge routines. Twelve teams competed in this event and the top 3 were awarded Gold Medal Placement from the Judges. Showcase Gymnastics “Girl on Fire” routine featuring all 62 athletes attending National Championships was one of these teams! This routine was also one of the feature routines at the Gala held on stage at the Mt. St Joseph’s University Theatre.
