Santa and Rudolph’s Next Stop…Bayou Bend’s Christmas Village!

Santa and his reindeer will return for 17 dazzling nights in December and January for the 4th annual Christmas Village at Bayou Bend. From December 14 through January 5, the 14-acre estate transforms into a winter wonderland and spreads holiday cheer with sparkling lights, carolers, a hand-crafted model train and festive activities – including a cotton snowball toss and reindeer games, and sledding on a faux-snow slope—for all ages. Be sure to take your picture with Santa, Rudolph, and his giant sleigh.

Holiday-themed tours of Ima Hogg’s historic mansion created by Todd Waite feature live actors, theatrical effects, and Christmas decorations. For more information visit https://www.mfah.org/a/christmas-village-at-bayou-bend/

Dates: December 14, 2018, through January 5, 2019

Background: Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens—Houston’s home for America’s treasures—is the MFAH house museum for American decorative arts and paintings. The objects are displayed in the home of legendary philanthropist and collector Ima Hogg (1882–1975), who gave her estate to the MFAH in 1957. More than 20 rooms showcase the evolution of American style and taste from 1620 to 1876. The mansion is situated on 14 acres of formal gardens and lush woodlands. The Lora Jean Kilroy Visitor and Education Center at Bayou Bend features an orientation gallery, a library, a retail shop, two meeting rooms, public terraces and ample parking. Bayou Bend is open year-round to visitors and offers a variety of programs for children, families and adults, including Christmas Village at Bayou Bend, which first debuted December 2015.
