The Texas Renaissance Festival Recommends Routes to Avoid Traffic Congestion

Last weekend the Texas Renaissance Festival saw the largest attendance of the season with over 57,000 descending upon the festival for the Heroes and Villains themed weekend. With the beautiful fall weather, the influx of patrons to the festival also meant heavy traffic congestion, especially coming from SH 249 through Magnolia North to FM 1774 where there are ongoing road construction projects. Some travelers were stuck in traffic up to two hours before reaching the festival gates.

The festival recommends arriving at the festival early or later in the day to avoid heavy traffic. Festival gates open each festival day at 9 a.m. Peak arrival hours at the festival are 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Patrons coming to the festival are strongly encouraged to use the following routes to get to the festival for the remaining three weekends of the 2019 season that run Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Friday through Dec. 1.

SH 290 – Take 290 North to SH 6 and head towards Bryan/College Station, exit at SH 105 East towards Plantersville. At FM 1774, take a right and go South to the festival gates.

I-45 – Take I-45 North to SH 105, head West towards Montgomery. At FM 1774 in Plantersville, take a left and follow the road to the festival gates.

Waze and Google – DO NOT take suggested alternative routes suggested by Waze or Google! Once you are on FM 1488 or FM 1774, please remain on the main roads to the festival!

“It is important that our festival patrons arrive safely to the festival,” said Texas Renaissance Festival General Manager Joe Bailey. “With the ongoing road construction particularly on FM 1774, we will continue to monitor traffic to the festival and update patrons via our social media channels especially during peak arrival times,” he added.
