Summer is coming to a close, and kids are heading back to school in a couple of weeks. We caught up with a few of our HFM Kid Ambassadors to check in with them and see what they are most excited about for the upcoming school year.
In case you don’t know about our Kid Ambassadors, they are a group of 24 amazing kids (ages 5-16), selected from a pool of over 500 candidates in 2018. 2019 is our pilot year for the Kid Ambassador program, and so far it has been AMAZING!
The Kid Ambassador program grew from our desire to develop our model search program into a more wide-ranging internship opportunity for interested kids. We wanted to provide an opportunity for local kids not only to gain modeling experience, but also to explore the greater Houston area while making new friends, serving our communities, and learning about what it takes to be a working journalist.
Here’s just a few things they are involved in:
- Modeling for our HFM photoshoots
- Acting as junior staff/reporters
- Reviewing products, shows, and attractions
- Submitting their own story ideas
- Assisting editors with stories by submitting questions for subjects to answer
- Attending events as HFM’s representatives
- Assisting with social media
- Volunteering at HFM events
Stay tuned to HFM every month for announcements on our 2020 HFM Kid Ambassador Search coming in October 2019!
