108 Yoga Poses for Kids

yoga

The popularity of teaching yoga to kids has exploded over the past several years, with it becoming a staple in daycares and preschools for kids as young as 1.

The benefits of yoga, and subsequently the mindfulness it teaches, has been shown to improve both physical and mental health in young children.

Creators Lauren and Brian Chaitoff are the founders of YogiBeans, a novel yoga curriculum started in 2007 that is taught at various schools, yoga studios, and other venues throughout New York City.

With 108 AWESOME YOGA POSES FOR KIDS they’re hoping to bring the healing and power of yoga to kids across the country: each pose is easily broken down with pictures and descriptions (including suggested age ranges) that parents and kids can follow along with.

Science at
Yogi Beans

Yoga is a science. It is beneficial for the mental and physical health of young people. Our mission is to help kids everywhere grow healthier and happier. To accomplish this, we need to measure it. That’s why we partner in research studies to ascentrain the impact of our programs.

The Problem

There is a terrible child and adolescent mental health crisis

Exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic, this mental health crisis affects millions of young people and their families every day across the U.S. and abroad.

  • Children are diagnosed with mental health conditions at the same rates as adults

  • 80% of children don’t get the mental health support they need

  • 50% of lifetime mental illness begins by age 14

  • Suspected suicide attempts were up 51% for girls ages 12 to 17

The Solution

Studies show:
Yogi Beans works

The evidence of yoga practice among children indicates improved benefits in concentration, stress alleviation, self-awareness, consciousness, self-regulation, behavioral and emotional maturity, and self-confidence in everyday life. The proof is in the science:

Physical Benefits

+ balance

+ strength

+ endurance

+ aerobic capacity

Mental Benefits

+ focus

+ memory

+ self-esteem

+ classroom behavior

+ academic performance

+ stress reduction

Our Research

Advancing the field
of children’s wellness

We’re partnering in pre- and post-intervention studies to ascertain the impact of yoga programs on young people. We are also seeking to develop a theoretical framework that associates children’s mental health and well-being to self-regulation processes in order to create a better theoretical understanding of the effects of yoga.
