Keeping the Whole Family Healthy

Get the whole family ready for back-to-school during National Immunization Awareness Month. While all Texas public schools and daycares require the below immunizations for children, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reminds us that adults should also be up to date on shots like tetanus, TDap, hepatitis A and B, meningitis, MMR, and shingles, depending on age. Contact Houston’s Immunization Helpline for information on free or low-cost immunizations at 832-824-2061. This is a 24/7 interactive phone system in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Immunizations Required for Childcare and Texas Public Schools:

  • Diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP)
  • Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV)
  • Measles-mumps-rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Pneumococcal conjugate (PCV13)
  • Hepatitis B (Hep B)
