Families enjoy musical summer

Prelude Music Classes for Children announces Music Together® Family Classes for mixed ages and babies and MUSIC CAMP for ages 5 to 9 this summer

Dr. Ana Treviño-Godfrey wife, mother of two, Prelude founder and music director believes all children are musical and all children can achieve basic music competence.

A classically trained professional vocalist, she completed her Doctorate of Music at Rice University in May 2009. She has taught students of all ages-from infants to professional singers-at Michigan’s Interlochen Arts Camp, The Cleveland Institute of Music, Rice University and the Rice Preparatory Summer Vocal Camp. Ana is a certified Music Together^®teacher and in 2007, her love for music and children inspired her to create Prelude Music Classes.

As children develop and experience their world, their brains forge pathways that create patterns of thinking and responding to their environment. That is how Music Together works.

This Summer Prelude offers a 10-week Family Class and a Babies Class for newborns to 8 months.

Family Class for newborns through age 5 and the grownups who loves them

This is the essential Music Together^® class, one that a child can attend from birth to age five through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers – grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers – parents, grandparents, nanny – can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.

Babies Class – Birth to 8 months only

Every child’s development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed Ages Class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older brother or sister. Babies may also take the special Babies Class offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together. The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby.

All classes include two summer concerts for the entire family!

Prelude Music Classes for Children https://www.preludechildren.com/announces that it will now offer MUSIC CAMP for older children ages 5 to 9

What makes camp special is that it will include the Music Together ® Big Kids Summer class, dance and beginning ukulele and violin class.

Tuition includes the rental of a ukulele and violin for the week. Prelude asks that children be at least 5 years old by June, 2015 to participate in this program.
